AppXcel

Overview Features & Benefits Models & Tech Specs

Fast Web Applications. Efficient Servers. Secure Transactions.

Open Service Platform for Application Acceleration, Optimization and Security

By supporting a wide set of application acceleration and security services, AppXcel™ enables complete transaction reliability, cost-effective scalability and fast application and translation response times. By working in tandem with other products in the APSolute™ product family, this open service platform supports a wide set of core APSolute application acceleration and security services to address server performance issues, response-time bottlenecks and security risks.

Deploying AppXcel with AppDirector™ expands the comprehensive set of application acceleration, optimization and security services provided by Radware’s Application Front-End (AFE) solution. Deploying AppXcel with DefensePro® or Content Inspection Detector® provides a powerful and scalable solution for protection against encrypted SSL-based attacks that would otherwise evade regular security inspection.

AppXcel is part of Radware’s AFE solution

Performance Acceleration Services

AppXcel provides end-to-end performance acceleration of web- and SSL-based applications for all end-users types such as desktops, PDAs and smart-phones.

AppXcel’s acceleration technologies include web compression, image reduction, caching, HTTP connection multiplexing, TCP optimization and controlling bandwidth utilization for fast application and transaction response times and the best end-user experience across various media types (e.g., cellular connections, wireless networks, broadband connections).

By offloading SSL and persistent functions (processor- and server-intensive operations) from servers, AppXcel frees the servers’ CPUs to handle additional requests, thus eliminating the need to buy additional hardware in order to support application processing requirements. AppXcel clustering capabilities enable seamless transaction scalability delivering up to 150,000 new SSL TPS, accommodating future transaction growth.

This application accelerator handles centralized multi-device application and SSL management which

  • Reduces the complexity and the costs of managing SSL server infrastructure through centralized, tamper-resistant certificates/key protection and management
  • Significantly reduces Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) card deployment costs while preventing attackers from gaining access to sensitive information (e.g., keys and certificates) contained in the module
  • Reduces OPEX of installing and managing certificates on each and every server
  • Simplifies maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Centralizes monitoring of SSL performance
  • Provides complete reporting and auditing of any configuration changes required for regulatory compliance

Security Services

AppXcel’s add-on web application firewall (WAF) service provides unified and automated protection against known and unknown web application attacks worms, platform exploits and network attacks, ensuring secure and continuous on-line business activity.

Featuring client- and server-side SSL sniffing, AppXcel provides complete transaction visibility and security of encrypted traffic, preventing SSL virus tunneling while guaranteeing end-to-end application-smart performance tuning for web-enabled, SSL-based applications.

AppXcel provides client- and server-side SSL security by expanding the capabilities of all network security devices to scan SSL encrypted traffic. AppXcel peels off the encryption from in-bound and out-bound SSL traffic, providing a clear-text copy to network security devices so they can detect real-time hacking or information leaks.

When AppDirector is used in conjunction with AppXcel, this combined AFE solution provides the industry’s most comprehensive security solution while eliminating traditional security/performance trade-offs. AppDirector’s fully integrated intrusion prevention and unique behavioral-based Denial of Service (DoS) protection insulates data center applications and server resources against application-level attacks and zero-day DoS attacks. In addition the ability to control multistep secure socket layer (SSL) processing provides enhanced security of HTTP, FTP and SMTP over SSL.

Insite Centralized Management and Reporting

Radware’s Insite provides all of the administration and reporting capabilities needed to manage a WAF deployment; including profile management, status monitoring, alerting, logging and reporting activity. With Insite’s rich graphical reporting capabilities, customers can easily understand security status and meet regulatory compliance requirements. Insite provides instant visibility into security, compliance (HIPAA, SOX) and content delivery concerns.
